Cobble Hill

The Guide

Clinton Street on a Sunday — stoops, strollers, and a bakery line that's worth it.

Cobble Hill is what Brooklyn Heights would be if it were a little less well-known and a little more itself. The brownstones are just as beautiful — Federal row houses, Italianate stoops, gardens tucked behind iron gates — but the streets are quieter. Atlantic Avenue runs the northern edge with some of the best Middle Eastern grocers and Lebanese restaurants in the city. Smith Street handles everything else.
